Product Description
This tapestry is a reproduction of the painting The Embarkation of St Ursula, 1641, by Claude Lorrain (National Gallery, London). Claude Lorrain was an artist of Baroque era and was admired for his landscape paintings. The Embarkation of St Ursula was made in Rome for Cardinal Poli and depicts the departure of Saint Ursula, setting off to do missionary work. Master of landscapes and lighting, Lorrain captured the golden late afternoon and how the light plays across the harbour, and the way this light softens the objects.
